Taxi driver with purchased license sentenced in Primorye

A taxi driver from Primorye has been charged with using a fake driver's license. Despite the fact that he did not plead guilty, the punishment he received was lenient. He was sentenced to nine months of restricted freedom and up to one year in prison, DEITA.RU reports, citing the region's unified judicial system.

The man bought a fake driver's license to sign a contract for taxi services. But one day, traffic police officers stopped the driver to check his documents and stopped his illegal activity. The certificate aroused the police's suspicions. It turned out that the form had been filled out on a color inkjet printer.

The taxi driver, who denied his guilt, told the court that he was on a business trip to Moscow, where he completed the appropriate training and received his license. He reportedly did not know that the document was fake. However, the case, the materials of which were transferred to the Mikhailovsky District Court, said that the 33-year-old defendant did not go to the capital to study on principle.

The man was found guilty of knowingly obtaining and using forged documents and was sentenced to restriction of freedom (Part 3 of Article 327 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Let us recall that the Primorsky Krai police regularly conduct preventive measures - "Taxi" - to prevent accidents involving vehicles carrying passengers. During this campaign, investigators checked 123 taxis. No one was held criminally liable, but 26 drivers were found to have violated traffic rules stipulated by the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.

Recently, legal obstacles to working as a taxi driver in Primorye include the lack of Russian citizenship and only having a patent for carrying out work activities in Russia. The government of Primorye is renewing the ban on hiring foreign workers in a number of industries.
