Belousov: Russia Counts on Close Military Cooperation with China Video
Cooperation between Russia and China is crucial to maintaining global and regional stability, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov said.
"Russian-Chinese military cooperation is a key element in strengthening our defense capability and maintaining global and regional stability. We regularly conduct joint operations and combat exercises on land, at sea and in the air," Belousov said during talks with Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun, TASS reports.
It was noted at the meeting that Russia expects close and fruitful cooperation with Chinese partners, which will help strengthen strategic partnership in the defense industry. The Russian Defense Minister expressed confidence that the current negotiations will further strengthen relations between the two countries.
In June, China confirmed that it was ready to develop military cooperation with the Russian Federation. It expressed confidence that both countries are in a good position in developing military cooperation and have the opportunity to take a new step in this direction.
Prime Minister Dong Jun stressed that the first meeting with Belousov was held on the basis of a common desire to establish friendly relations between China and Russia and deepen military cooperation. He also noted that Belousov's appointment as the Russian Defense Minister comes at a difficult historical period, which underlines the trust of Russian President Vladimir Putin in him and demonstrates his leadership qualities.
Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov made an official visit to China. The Russian delegation was met at the building of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China in Beijing, an official welcoming ceremony was held with the participation of the Honor Guard and orchestra. Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun welcomed the Russian Defense Minister. The event ended with a ceremonial march of the Honor Guard.
