Vladivostok residents were told about the correct actions to take during a fire

Autumn is the time when the risk of wildfires increases. Experts from the Vladivostok administration spoke about preventive measures and correct actions in case of a fire, reports IA DEITA.RU.

Be warned. It would be nice if knowledge of what to do in case of a fire never came in handy in life. But it is necessary to know it. Deputy Head of the Vladivostok Administration Dmitry Svitaylo reminded us of an important rule:

Experts stress that it is important to understand the condition of the electrical wiring in your apartment to minimize the likelihood of a fire. This should be checked in a visible place, for example, near the electricity meter.

"Black, burnt wires and contacts indicate problems that need to be addressed by a professional. When leaving home, you should turn off any device connected to your network, even if it is in automatic standby mode. If there is a power surge, it can burn out or even catch fire," emphasizes Dmitry Svitaylo.

"Do not store flammable items, boxes, rags, etc. at the front door of your apartment and do not ask your neighbors to do the same. If your neighbor's apartment catches fire, the fire from these items may spread to your apartment. The same applies to balconies. There is no need to turn a balcony into a warehouse," says Dmitry Svitaylo.

Owners of private homes must systematically and promptly remove garbage from their territory and mow the lawn so that garbage and overgrown greenery do not cause fires. Lighting fires and burning dry grass is strictly prohibited. In addition to the above measures, before the start of the heating season, it is necessary to check the serviceability of the stove and chimney.

Even if the fire continues, there is no need to panic.

"Under no circumstances should you use the lift in the event of a fire. An electrical failure could have stopped the lift, and then a tragedy would be inevitable. Do not attempt to climb the smoke-filled stairs to the exit alone. Just one inhalation of thick smoke can cause convulsions. This will force you to breathe more, and this is a direct path to unconsciousness and death. Therefore, you must immediately close the door, call the fire department on 101 or 112, report the fire and report your current location."

Next, you should go to the farthest room and close all the doors and windows so that air currents do not cause the fire to intensify. You should stay in the room near the closed window and wait for help.

It is highly undesirable to leave a small child at home alone. After all, it is very difficult for an adult to quickly and clearly perform all actions without panicking. It will be even more difficult for little ones.

If you see a fire, you should call the fire department and not panic, as this may not be your first call.

It is also important to remember that when outdoors, you must not light fires, leave glass bottles and trash, burn trash, or throw cigarette butts and matches on the ground.
