Russian on Bicycle Detained at Military Facility in Germany
German military police stopped a Russian on a bicycle on the grounds of a military training center in Gardelegen. The man was later released. However, the Bundeswehr does not rule out that this was an attempt at espionage.
According to Business Insider, Bundeswehr police stopped the cyclist on the 23,000-hectare military training center on Thursday, October 10. The area is not fenced off, but there are barriers and warning signs.
The police confirmed that the man had Russian citizenship. He said that he was just passing by and accidentally ended up in the house.
Internal Bundeswehr documents claim that it cannot rule out an espionage attempt.
