The Kremlin has commented on the idea of a tax on childlessness
Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said the Kremlin does not yet know the details of the proposal to introduce a childlessness tax in Russia. According to him, experts must come to a conclusion on the issue.
"It is important to know the details of the proposal. We do not know what it means," Peskov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The Kremlin spokesman added that an analysis that included Soviet experience was needed on the issue, but he expressed confidence that the plan was unlikely to have an impact on the birth rate.
