New details emerge in criminal case against former Sochi mayor
In the criminal case against former Sochi Mayor Alexey Kopaigorodsky, he has been charged under Article 160, Part 4 of the Russian Criminal Code ("Seizure or embezzlement of another's property by an organized group or on an especially large scale"). New details have emerged. This was reported by Kommersant.
It is known that the former mayor wanted to expand the boundaries of the house. Two plots of land were transferred to municipal ownership and leased to citizens who have priority rights to build additional housing. The tenants were a general practitioner and an English teacher.
They bought these lots for tens of thousands of rubles and then sold them to Kopaigorodsky's lawyer, who then sold one of the lots to the former mayor's wife. Thus, according to the investigation, Kopaigorodsky stole city property worth at least 3.7 million rubles.
Earlier, the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow confiscated the accounts of former Sochi Mayor Alexey Kopeygorodsky, his wife Yanina and corporations associated with him. The court prohibited them from managing the funds.
