France ends 31-year treasure hunt
After 31 years of searching for the bronze statue in France, the hunt for the "Golden Owl" has come to an end.
According to TASS, the Golden Owl game has been running since the book was published in 1993. During this time, participants had to solve 11 puzzles in the book to find bronze owl statues hidden throughout Europe.
Becker said the statue was discovered on the night of October 2-3, 2024. The winner who found it and provided proof of solving the puzzle was awarded a real golden owl worth 1 million francs (about 150,000 euros) at the start of the game.
Becker said he received a message from an owl with a hidden password. The identity of the winner was kept secret. Becker also said a new game could be released to mark the 32nd anniversary of the book's release (April 24-25). "The golden owl will fly from the place where the first owl was buried," he said.
