Man who hit police officer sentenced in Novosibirsk
In Novosibirsk, a local resident was found guilty of using violence against government officials.
The Investigative Department of the Leninsky District of Novosibirsk collected evidence that the court considered sufficient to convict the 50-year-old man. He was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on the use of force against police officers during executions.
The incident occurred on the night of May 15, when police were sent to an illegal gambling house to conduct a test purchase. A drunk man committed a serious public disorder. When police repeatedly asked him to show his ID and stop the illegal activity, the assailant struck one of the employees in the neck, causing bodily harm.
The court sentenced the defendant to two years' imprisonment and one year's probation.
