Photo report: how Nizhny Novgorod celebrated National Unity Day

The celebration began with a religious procession. It started from the Kremlin's St. Michael the Archangel Cathedral and continued through the Zelensky Council to People's Unity Square.

By 13:00 all the march participants had gathered in the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. As they moved towards the assembly point, the Nizhny Novgorod militia chanted patriotic slogans.

The procession was led by Metropolitan Georgy. He was accompanied by representatives of the regional government, headed by the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin, as well as other representatives of the clergy.

Representatives of the regions arrived at the People's Unity Square and laid flowers at the monuments to Kozma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky. Then he and the head of the Nizhny Novgorod clergy made ceremonial speeches.

After this, Oleg Gazmanov surprised the people of Nizhny Novgorod. He performed the song "Forward, Russia" at the foot of the monument to Minin and Pozharsky. Neither snow nor wind disturbed the writer.

After Gazmanov's speech, the head of the region came out to the volunteers heading to the Northern Military District. The governors shook hands. Metropolitan Georgy blessed them with a prayer. The humanitarian aid will be delivered to Bando Square and sent from Nizhny Novgorod to the Northern Military District.

The festival ends with a light show, which is currently unfolding on the city's main square. It can be seen from the walls of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin until 02:00 on November 5.
