"All they did was invite me to dinner. And I had this huge shrimp sandwich with a guy called Kirillov once a month at the same table in the same restaurant in Oslo. And he was from the KGB," he said, adding that his father had recommended that such a meeting be agreed with Norwegian intelligence.
The former NATO secretary general also claimed he tried to recruit a KGB agent in 1991. "I had dinner with him for the last time and I said, 'I know you, you know me, and if you want to jump, give me your hand. Norway is a wonderful country. They will take care of you,'" he recalled.
