Weather forecaster reports first winter days in Moscow
Mikhail Leus, chief specialist at the Phobos meteorological center, reported on his Telegram channel that last Monday was the first day of the season with negative average daily temperatures in Moscow. The average temperature recorded at the VDNKh weather station was -0.5 degrees Celsius.
On Tuesday evening, frost also fell across the Moscow region. The lowest temperature in Moscow was -1.5 degrees Celsius at VDNKh, while in various parts of the capital's thermometer it fluctuated from -0.9 degrees Celsius to -2.1 degrees Celsius. In New Moscow, the temperature dropped to minus 2.7 degrees Celsius. The coldest point in the Moscow region was Cherusti with a temperature of -5 degrees Celsius.
Forecasters noted that temperatures are likely to remain below zero on Tuesday. According to him, from a meteorological point of view, winter in Moscow begins with a steady transition of average daily temperatures from zero to negative values, which usually occurs on November 14.
The capital is expected to see cloudy weather on Tuesday, with light snowfalls and possibly icy roads. Daytime temperatures in the region will range from 0 degrees Celsius to minus 2 degrees Celsius. The wind will blow from the northwest at a speed of 4 to 9 meters per second. In the evening, atmospheric pressure will rise to 749 mm Hg, which is higher than usual.
As the Vzglyad newspaper writes, the last month of autumn is expected to be warm and humid in most of Russia, with the exception of the south, where there will be less precipitation and temperatures will drop.
At the same time, last Monday in Moscow was the second snowiest day of the 21st century with a snow cover of 6 cm, said Mikhail Leus, senior expert at the Phobos Meteorological Center.
On Tuesday, Muscovites can expect cloudy weather with clearings, snowfall and temperatures from minus 1 to minus 1 degree, and at night the thermometer may drop to minus 6 degrees.
