The second season of Glavarkhiv's project "The View of the New Generation" has started in Moscow
The second season of the main archival project "Unique Documents. Prospects of a New Generation", which started in Moscow, is dedicated to the head of the archive, Yaroslav Onopenko, who writes for the portals of the capital's mayor and government.
The new season of the main archive is dedicated to the approaching 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Therefore, the capital's schoolchildren and students of grades 8-11 began to study the documents of the Heroes of the Soviet Union and documents about scientists and inventors of the Christopher Ledentsov Society.
"In the first half of this year, almost 750 students and schoolchildren took part in the competitive selections, of which only 25 young people were selected as finalists. All winners of the competition will spend three weeks in the main archive of Moscow to study archival materials, learn about specific methods of collecting biographical information and working with real historical materials," Onopenko said.
He added that at the end of the class, all students will defend their projects against individuals, demonstrating the originality and significance of the documents for the history of the city. Two classes are planned for the rest of the year, and three more before the summer holidays.
To participate in the project, it was necessary to write an essay about one of the heroes. The best grades were chosen by the jury of the Main Archive. The experts noted that the largest number of essays - 90 - were dedicated by students to the commander Konstantin Rokossovsky. A little less than 78 essays told about Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov.
The finalists of the "Prospects of a New Generation" will study the biographies of Alexander Vasilevsky, Semyon Bogdanov, Ivan Blazhevich, Ivan Lyudnikov, Ivan Korchagin, Ivan Bagramyan, Pavel Batov and others. The list of materials includes works by Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, Nikolai Zelinsky, Vladimir Vernadsky and others.
Earlier, the Central Archive of Moscow published a list of awarded participants in the Patriotic War of 1812 in the virtual museum "Moscow - Historical Directorate". Now city residents can know the fate of not only officers, but also privates, militiamen, partisans, city dwellers and even peasants.
The virtual museum also provides information about the ancestors of Muscovites who survived World War II.
