Church rector arrested for murder: he didn't like his friend's intimate touches
The rector of the Church of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God in the Chelyabinsk Region has been charged with murdering a friend. The Chelyabinsk Diocese confirmed this information.
We are talking about Igor Efremov, who serves in the small town of Gubernskoye. As reported by the Telegram channel Mash, the priest visited a local teacher. The woman's husband was also at dinner with them. The conversation between them ended in a conflict. The woman's husband died from a blow from Father Igor.
According to other sources, the 59-year-old bride drank alcohol and stayed overnight with the company. The quarrel that ended in death was caused by intimate contact between the friend and the priest.
- We are shocked! Of course, we know that this is a terrible tragedy. The bride this time had only positive characteristics. He was a faithful servant of his parish and church. What happened is truly absurd. Father Igor, according to the canons of our church, is forbidden to attend services. Law enforcement agencies are trying to reconstruct what happened there," Father Igor Shestakov, secretary of the Chelyabinsk diocese, told his colleagues from 74.RU.
Investigators have already opened a criminal case. On Thursday, October 17, a court hearing was held, where a preventive measure was chosen for Father Igor. Investigative Committee investigators petitioned for the arrest of the accused, but this was denied. By decision of the Argayash District Court, the priest was placed under house arrest for two months until December 15.
Father Igor became the rector of the church in the Chelyabinsk region more than 20 years ago. But his life was not always like this. Before that, he lived in the local center and worked as an actor at the Prospect Mime Theater and the New Art Theater.
In a conversation with a 74.RU correspondent, the priest noted that a priest is the same person as everyone else.
— There is more demand for brides. However, not many understand that a priest is a person who is saved despite his shortcomings. As one believer said, the church is not a procession of victorious saints, but a procession of repentant sinners. And in Orthodoxy, a person comes to Christ not to a priest, but the latter serves only in the church, and because he himself is in great need of Christ, and he is a simple and somewhat weak person.
