Sobyanin: The main works on the improvement of the Yauza River embankments have been completed in Moscow

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported on his Telegram channel that the main works on the improvement of the Yauza River embankment have been completed. In total, more than 20 kilometers have been cleared.

"In the 1930s, a significant part of the riverbed was decorated with granite banks," the mayor recalled. "However, the building lacked many basic amenities for pedestrians, including narrow sidewalks and poor lighting. Now, the renovated Yauza embankment once again decorates the city's architectural façade."

It has become more comfortable for everyone, including pedestrians, drivers and passengers of public transport, Sobyanin emphasized. The list of granite embankments of the Yauza River reconstructed this year includes the Academician Tupolev Embankment, Andronyevskaya, Bernikovskaya, Gannushkina, Golovinskaya, Bolnichnaya, Zolotorozhskaya, Kostomarovskaya, Krasnokazarmennaya, Lefortovo, Nikoloyamskaya, Podgorskaya, Poluyaroslavskaya, Preobrazhenskaya, Rubtsovskaya, Rusakovskaya, Aya, Syromyatnaya, Ikal and Ustinskaya.

Thanks to the traffic reboot, modern public spaces were eventually created in most of them. In addition, two-way traffic began on Podgorskaya and partly on Ustinskaya embankments. Thanks to this, cars can drive faster here.

When improving the Yauza embankment:

- The sidewalks have been widened and more space has been created for rest and walking along the embankment.

- Install additional lighting, including near unregulated pedestrian crossings.

- Automobile, railway and pedestrian bridges have been repaired, including the opening of a new bicycle and pedestrian bridge between the hospital and Rubtsovskaya Embankment.
