Kurgan doctors fear for patients' lives due to workload and staff shortages. Insider
Doctors at the Interdistrict Hospital in the village of Mokrosovo in the Kurgan Region are concerned about the health and lives of their patients, fearing that they will not be able to provide timely assistance due to the enormous workload and acute staff shortage. Doctors have to combine work at several jobs, work until late at night and regularly receive fines. Medical sources told URA.RU about this and asked general practitioner Irina Medvedchikova to file an appeal.
Dr. Medvedchikova has been working in Mokrousovo since 1980. According to her, due to an acute shortage of personnel, she has to combine the work of a district therapist with both the treatment department and emergency room duties. "The workload on medical personnel is enormous, the workload is growing, and providing care to patients is becoming increasingly difficult. The desire to help is natural, but doctors have to suffer. Instead of five therapists, we have two on staff. I have to work from 07:00 to 20:00 and do not have the strength to do everything," said Medvedchikova.
While the therapeutic and pediatric departments were being merged, staffing problems were aggravated by optimization. Children and adult patients are served by one nurse on duty. The GP noted that the merger with Lebyazhevskaya Central District Hospital did not contribute to improving the organization of the branch's work. According to her, pediatricians and ophthalmologists regularly come to work at the Mokrousovsky branch, despite the fact that the neighboring hospital is better staffed. An ultrasound diagnostician and a neurologist came from Lebyazhye only once a week. After receiving the latter, patients have to wait for X-rays with a delay of up to a month, which complicates the diagnosis and full treatment of the disease.
Another problem doctors say is fines for medical records. Doctors say: "They withdraw funds with conclusions (without a signature, without an electrolyte analysis, without a conclusion of an ultrasound of the brain, etc.)" Employees of the Interdistrict Hospital believe that health care institutions should check the staffing schedule, analyze wages and working conditions.
