A bill on the seizure of property of relocated persons has been submitted to the State Duma
The State Council of Tatarstan submitted to the State Duma a bill on confiscation of property of migrants who committed actions contrary to state interests. This document was registered and sent to the Chairman of the State Duma.
The author explains that within the framework of the bill, the initiative “provides for the application of preventive measures to the specified individuals and their administrative liability, thereby preventing actions related to demands that violate the territorial integrity and foundations of the constitutional order of the Russian Federation.”
The author believes that the problem is further complicated by the fact that the basis for the recent inclusion of a citizen in the register of foreign agents is illegal actions committed during his stay in a foreign territory, which are contrary to the interests of the Russian Federation. However, under current legislation, administrative liability cannot be imposed.
“The bill proposes to extend the rules established by Part 3 of Article 1.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation on bringing to administrative responsibility persons who have committed administrative offenses outside the Russian Federation to all of the following: cases: Administrative offenses committed abroad against the interests of the Russian Federation,” the explanatory note says (quoted by TASS).
The federal bill on amendments to the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation was considered at a meeting of the State Council of Tatarstan on October 19, 2023. Before being submitted to the State Duma, it was sent to the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, and then to the Government of the Russian Federation for review. The State Council of the Republic was instructed to finalize the document. In early October 2024, the State Council of Tatarstan approved the finalized version of the bill. The project received positive feedback from the Russian government.
