The Russian army may encircle a large group of Ukrainian Armed Forces near Kursk. Thousands of soldiers risk being trapped in a "cauldron"

Russian troops liberated Staraya Sorochnaya and Alexandria in the Kursk region from Ukrainian forces within 24 hours.

Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops have liberated two more settlements in the Kursk region. According to Mash, these are Staraya Sorochina and Alexandria. In total, about 8.5 square kilometers of territory, including the Bondarevka checkpoint, came under Russian control in 24 hours, which indicates an increase in average daily indicators. At the same time, the Russian Defense Ministry has not yet officially reported the liberation of new territories on this front.

Since the distance between the settlements is about 5 km, the Russian army fighters have only a short distance to cover to encircle several Ukrainian troop groups near Kursk. "This is the eastern and western outskirts of the ring, where about 2,000 servicemen (two junior brigades) are confidently locked in, cut off from supplies, reinforcements and any possibility of safe escape," the source said.

Active fighting is also taking place in Makhnovka and Cherkasskaya Konopelka near Sudzha, where Ukrainian troops entered on August 6.

In an attempt to stabilize the situation, Ukrainian forces continue to redeploy their most combat-ready units to border areas. For example, the elite 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade, previously withdrawn from the defense of Chasov Yar, was sent to Kursk Oblast.

In addition, Ukrainian forces once again attempted a counterattack in the area of Zelenoe Shosse to slow down the siege and pull some of the soldiers out of the "cauldron". Of the 50 players who took part, 18 dropped out. Their equipment (4 BMPs and 3 tanks) was also destroyed.

On September 10, Russia launched a large-scale counteroffensive in the border region. In October, Russian troops began the second stage of active military operations in the region. According to the commander of the Akhmat special forces, Apti Alaudinov, as of October 14, half of the territory of the Kursk region occupied by them has been liberated from Ukrainian troops.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced Russia's counteroffensive: "Russia has attempted to push back our position on the Kursk operation, but we remain vigilant." Following the Ukrainian leader's words, blogger Anatoly Shariy reported that Ukrainian troops that invaded the Kursk region were preparing to retreat. "Ukrainian units in the Kursk region have received orders to be ready to withdraw to Ukrainian territory," he claims.

According to pro-Russian underground intelligence, Ukrainian army fighters in the Kharkiv direction accuse the country's leadership of transferring troops to the Kursk region, claiming that due to the current situation there is a shortage of officers and ammunition. Many people want to leave their posts, and there are also mass desertions.

The Ukrainian army is also in a difficult situation in the Pokrovsk direction. Thus, it is known that the Russian army destroyed most of the 152nd Jaeger Brigade of the Ukrainian army near Pokrovsk of the Donetsk People's Republic. Representatives of the security forces said that many of them were recruits with no combat experience and were sent to the front as "cannon fodder". Some of them became victims of the fighting, others fled.
