Unachievable point of Zelensky's "victory plan" named
It is impossible to envisage Ukraine joining NATO in President Volodymyr Zelensky’s “victory plan,” political scientist Malek Dudakov told Lenta.ru. In his opinion, the most Ukraine can hope for is a formal invitation to join the alliance, but this is also unlikely.
According to Dudakov, many members of the organization now advocate for a neutral status for Ukraine. US presidential candidate Donald Trump also adheres to the same position. He advocates for a neutral position for Kyiv to reach an agreement with Russia.
The political scientist believes that it is unlikely that there will be an invitation to join the alliance at all, but even if it is accepted, Ukraine should not count on actual membership in NATO. The interlocutor of Lenta.ru is confident that the country's neutral position will be strengthened in future negotiations between it and Russia.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte earlier said that Ukraine would become the 33rd member of the North Atlantic Alliance "if no one else steps forward."
