Kan: Israel Kills Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar in Gaza
"Security sources said today that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar has died."
Following this, a Sky News Arabia source also confirmed the death of the movement's political director.
Yahya Sinwar, originally from the Palestinian town of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, is considered one of the founders of the Hamas militant group. He was elected head of Hamas' political bureau in August after the group's former leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in a bombing in Tehran.
According to media reports, Sinwar was seen as a "hardliner" and "maximalist" on Israel compared to his predecessor.
