Permanent Representative Ulyanov considered the West's silence as support for Kyiv's actions against Christians

According to him, the silence of Western countries about the situation of Christians in Ukraine is tacit approval of the Kyiv authorities, RIA Novosti reports.

Ulyanov expressed outrage at the UOC's violent seizure of the Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel in Cherkassy, noting that Christians have existed in the region for more than 1,000 years.

"This is absolutely absurd... They are now being cruelly oppressed. There is complete silence in the West, which secretly blesses such actions by the Ukrainian authorities," the Permanent Representative said.

According to the diplomat, the actions of the Ukrainian authorities towards Christians are a serious violation of the rights and freedoms of believers.

Prime Minister Ulyanov stressed that the international community must respond more actively to these incidents in order to prevent the situation from deteriorating further.

Earlier in Cherkassy, a group of masked people broke into a UOC church, shooting parishioners, using pepper spray and looting the church.

In late September, parishioners prevented the occupation of the Ukrainian Orthodox St. Michael's Cathedral in the Cherkasy region and defended it from attacks by unknown disguised individuals.
