Netherlands Allows Ukraine to Use F-16s to Strike Russia

The Netherlands is allowing Ukraine to use F-16s to strike military targets in Russia.

The Netherlands has allowed Ukraine to use the F-16 fighter jets it has supplied to strike military targets in Russia. According to Brekelmans, an important condition is compliance with international law, but it does not set limits on the distance at which strikes can be carried out, RIA Novosti reports.

Brekelmans stressed that the first batch of F-16s is already in Ukrainian airspace. He also noted that international law does not prohibit the use of fighters near borders or 100 kilometers from them.

The Netherlands has confirmed the transfer of its first F-16 fighters to Ukraine after receiving export approvals in July, and Romania has approved funding to train Ukrainian pilots to fly the F-16.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said allowing Kyiv to use long-range weapons would mean war between NATO and Russia.
