Vyacheslav Fedorishchev took over the baton for the right to host the forum "Russia - a Sports Power"

The right to host the Russia – Sports Power forum in 2025 was transferred to Samara in Ufa.

On October 17, 2024, the XII International Sports Forum "Russia - a Sports Power" started in Ufa, the capital of Bashkortostan. According to the decree of the President of the Russian Federation, signed in March 2024, Samara will become the capital of the next XIII forum "Russia - a Sports Power" in 2025.

Today in Ufa, Samara Region, a stand at the international exhibition "Modern Sport". A symbolic ceremony of passing the baton of the forum from Bashkortostan to Samara Region on the topic "Innovations and Prospects" took place. The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Mikhail Degtyarev, Governor of the Samara Region Vyacheslav Fedorishchev and Acting Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan Andrey Nazarov.

"We are grateful to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin for the trust in holding the international forum "Russia as a Sports Power" in the capital of our republic. We approached this issue with special responsibility. We did something truly large-scale. The most modern sports facilities were built for the residents of the republic. I am sure that they will become the birthplace of the new champion of the country. We are delivering the symbol of the main sporting event of the country to our respected neighbor - the Samara Region. I am sure that today's events will help strengthen the friendship between our regions and confidently move forward in the interests of Russia," emphasized Andrey Nazarov, Acting Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

"We are truly happy to chair the International Sports Forum "Russia – Country of Sports"! For the Samara Region, this is a great honor and a great responsibility. On behalf of our local sports community and residents, I would like to thank the President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin for the trust he has placed in us. The fact that we are taking over from the Republic of Bashkortostan, famous for its sports successes and traditions, should not lead to a decrease in our standards. The Samara Region has much to be proud of. The names of our champions are known throughout the world: Alexey Nemov, Oleg Saitov, Tagir Khaibulaev, Irina Bliznova. We have hosted the FIFA World Cup, the Russian-Chinese Games, international boxing and rugby competitions, Russian championships in cycling, sailing and handball, and representatives of the Samara Region have won 56 medals at the Olympic, Paralympic and Deaflympic Games. The Forum "Russia – Country of Sports" will continue the sports history of our region and the country as a whole. We will take into account the invaluable experience gained at such high-level events in Bashkiria and enrich them with the color of the Volga region. I want to assure you. The Samara region will not disappoint you," said the governor of the Samara region Vyacheslav Fedorishchev.

When choosing a venue for the Russia – Sports Power forum, the Samara Region's experience in holding major sporting events, including international ones, was taken into account. Samara hosted the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the Summer Russia-China Games, international karate and Greco-Roman wrestling competitions, international boxing and rugby matches, and clubs from the Premier League in football, the Continental Hockey League and the United Basketball League played here.

Samara Oblast is a region with rich sporting traditions. Athletes from Samara Oblast have repeatedly become winners and laureates of the Olympic, Paralympic and Deaflympic Games. Today's relay ceremony was attended by two-time Olympic boxing champion, Val Barker Cup winner Oleg Saitov from Novokuibyshevsk, Olympic basketball medalist Olga Arteshina from Samara, Paralympic swimming medalist Vyacheslav Lensky. and Kirill Pulver.

Samara Region was one of the first regions to start physical culture and sports work aimed at physical and social rehabilitation and adaptation of veterans of the Northern Military District. Currently, the CSK VVS and Lada clubs have created physical culture and sports sections for swimming, knife throwing, mini-football and powerlifting, and two teams for track hockey have been formed.

In recent years, Samara Oblast has made strides in developing sports infrastructure. Accessible sports grounds are being built and efforts are underway to attract the population to popular sports. More than 57% of local residents participate in organized physical education and sports events. A new football stadium and several training grounds were opened for the World Cup, and an ice sports palace in Samara and an athletics stadium in Tolyatti were built as part of the national project "Demography".

In 2025, the Solidarity Samara Arena stadium or the Vladimir Vysotsky Sports Palace will become the venue for the International Sports Forum Russia – a Sports Power. The facility meets all the necessary requirements.

The Forum "Russia - a Sports Power" has been held on the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation since 2009 and is the largest platform for discussing key topics and prospects for the development of physical culture and sports in Russia. The Forum program includes business, sports, culture and exhibition areas with a total annual number of participants of about 5,000 people.
