Zaluzhny spoke about Ukraine's chances of emerging from the military conflict

Valeriy Zaluzny, former commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) and Ukraine's ambassador to the UK, said it would be "virtually impossible" for Ukraine to avoid a protracted conflict with Russia, the Kyiv Independent reported.

He also said that the Ukrainian counteroffensive under his command in 2023 had failed because the West had not provided sufficient military equipment. According to him, this had led the Ukrainian army into a state of protracted fighting, from which Zaluzhny found it almost impossible to find a way out. He added that the conflict was now moving into a “positional” phase, involving “static and attritional battles” that would allow Russia to restore its military potential.

Member of Parliament Artemiy Dmitruk, who had previously left Ukraine, said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his associates do not believe in Kyiv's victory and NATO membership. Those close to the president believe that he wants to extend his term in this way.
