Former Senator Arashukov, who received a life sentence, apologized to Kadyrov and asked for help

Former Senator from Karachay-Cherkessia Rauf Arashukov, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, apologized to the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov and asked for help. The former Russian official posted an appeal to the Chechen leader on social networks.

Arashukov asked Kadyrov for "forgiveness for all his mistakes." At the same time, he noted that he had never knowingly done anything that could "insult or offend" the Chechen leader specifically.

The former senator also appealed to the head of Chechnya for help, emphasizing that at the moment no one except Kadyrov can help him. At the same time, Arashukov did not specify what kind of help he expects from the Chechen leader.

It was also reported that the Supreme Court would consider an appeal against the life sentence of former Senator Arashkov on October 23.

In December 2022, the Moscow City Court sentenced Rauf Arashukov and his father Raul Arashukov, who previously held the position of adviser to the general director of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz, to life imprisonment.

Father and son Arashkov were detained in January 2019, and Rauf was arrested right in the building of the Federation Council. The court established and proved that the relatives created a criminal organization with the aim of stealing gas from Gazprom, and the total damage from their actions exceeded 30 billion rubles. In addition, the former senator was accused of organizing the murder of the head of the Circassian youth organization Aslan Zhukov and adviser to the president of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic Fral Shebzukhov.
