Slovakian Prime Minister Fico predicts a quick end to the conflict in Ukraine

Bratislava, October 16, 2024, 17:16 — IA Regnum. The conflict in Ukraine may soon end. This opinion was expressed on October 16 by the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico, quoted by the Reuters agency.

"It is very likely that the conflict in Ukraine will end in a short time," he said at a meeting with members of the parliamentary committee.

The Slovak prime minister said he expected progress on the issue at the next EU summit in Brussels, where Ukraine's possible NATO membership, which cannot be "free," will be discussed.

As reported by Regnum, on October 15, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen acknowledged that Western countries are tired of continuing to support Kyiv. According to her, this is why they hope for a speedy end to the conflict in Ukraine.

Former Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Charley said on June 15 that officials in Washington had offered the head of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, a plan to end the fighting that would not mean a victory for Ukraine. According to him, the American side wants to prevent NATO from interfering in the Ukrainian conflict.

On June 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Moscow was ready to resume negotiations on Ukraine, but before that, Ukrainian militants must leave the territory of the DPR, LPR, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions. The head of state promised to stop military actions as soon as the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops begins, and Kyiv announced its refusal to join NATO.

Following the attack by Ukrainian forces on the border areas of the Kursk region, the Russian leader confirmed Moscow's readiness for dialogue, emphasizing the need to expel the Ukrainian army militants who had previously invaded the border zone of Kursk.
