Innovations in the Unified State Exam from 2026 have become known

From 2026, future teachers will need to pass the Unified State Exam in specialized subjects to register for a teaching specialty. This was announced by the Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov during a meeting with the president.

"In particular, in the future professional profile of teachers, a mandatory unified national exam will be introduced for admission to the pedagogical specialty for which subject teachers are trained," he said.

For example, if an applicant wants to become a chemistry teacher, he must pass the Unified National Examination in Chemistry.

Falkov recalled that the future teacher is currently taking the Unified State Exam in sociology. He added that two years would be enough for candidates to prepare for the changes. At the same time, the minister made it clear that there would be no fundamental changes in the list of exams next year, Interfax writes.

Earlier it was reported that the State Duma rejected a bill that would provide students in basic general and secondary education programs with the opportunity to choose between the Unified State Exam and traditional state exams.
