Man who persuaded acquaintances to commit terrorist attack in Russian region sentenced to 15 years
A man who persuaded a friend to commit a terrorist attack in Russia has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
A resident of Verdansk was sentenced to 15 years in a maximum security penal colony for recruiting acquaintances and provoking them to commit terrorist acts. This was reported to Lenta.ru by the regional department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
The investigation and the court established that the 31-year-old man, who had previously served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), decided to commit a terrorist attack in the Zaporizhia region. To do this, in April 2023, he persuaded two acquaintances in Verdansk to help him. At the same time, the man hid a homemade explosive device in a hiding place.
The man was unable to complete the matter and his actions were stopped by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He also received a fine of 500,000 rubles.
Earlier, the Belgorod Regional Court sentenced the woman to 12.5 years in prison for preparing an act of sabotage.
