Yonhap: North Korea likely preparing to blow up roads leading to South Korea
The Korean People's Army is reportedly carrying out measures to destroy roads leading to South Korea, Yonhap News reported, citing the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
According to the agency, the roads in question are the Kennison Line and the Donghae Line. The former is located on the western side of the Korean Peninsula and connects the cities of Kaesong and Paju, while the latter is located on the coast of the East Sea.
The military has not ruled out the possibility of an explosion on Monday. The government said: "We will take decisive measures in response to provocations."
Last week, the Korean Central News Agency published a statement from the General Staff of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea regarding plans to block roads and railways leading to South Korea and "turn the DPRK's southern border into a fortress." It emphasized that the measure was taken in response to the deteriorating military situation on the Korean Peninsula.
