X5 has suspended sales of its Giselle marshmallows amid numerous online complaints
In mid-October, information appeared on the Internet about mass poisoning by the marshmallow "Giselle", containing maltitol syrup. Buyers complained about their addiction to the "classic" marshmallow from the "VkusVill" stores. They reported that after eating the dessert, their health deteriorated sharply.
The company said it had not yet received any complaints but had stopped supplying the product to supermarkets over safety concerns.
The company said: "You cannot pay for the products at the payment window or place an order through the app, and the sale of stocks remaining in store warehouses and distribution centers is blocked." In Karelia, the number of people addicted to shawarma in Segezha has grown to 115 people.
The distributor added: “We have confirmed all customer inquiries during the product sales period over the last four months, and on average, product quality inquiries account for less than 0.3% of total purchases.” There have been only 32 complaints about the product.
Last June, hundreds of people in every region became addicted to Rovio salad bought through the local delivery service "Local Kitchen". The buyer was infected with botulism, and the product was produced in violation of sanitary standards.
