The court will review the preventive measure for security officials from Surgut suspected of selling citizenship

"In Surgut, the Migration Department will consider measures to detain individuals suspected of creating an organized crime group. A second criminal case has been opened against Karamova, Isperdinova, and Akhverdiev under Article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of a criminal group). Earlier, Prosecutor Golubev did not support the Investigative Committee's motion and placed the director of the immigration service Karamova, her subordinate Isperdinova, and businessman Akhverdiev, who were involved in the passport operation and standing in line, under house arrest. Security forces said that this was too lenient a precautionary measure. The presence of the second provision (formation of a criminal group) may entail imprisonment in a pretrial detention center. Hearings on changing the preventive measure have begun in the Surgut City Court. "Right now this is happening behind closed doors," the insider said.
If the suspects are found guilty, they face up to 20 years in prison. The court's press service confirmed the start of a trial to review the preventive measure.
