Skripal's written testimony in poisoning case revealed
Sergei Skripal's written testimony in the UK poisoning case has been made public.
Former GRU Colonel Sergei Skripal, convicted in Russia of spying for Britain, said he feels safe in Britain and has no need to hide his identity. His written testimony was read out at a public hearing in Salisbury, TASS reports.
Skripal stressed that he did not know which organization was responsible for ensuring his safety in the UK. He also noted that after entering the country in 2010, he saw no need to settle in the closed Special Zone.
The former GRU colonel said his Salisbury home was on a quiet street and some of his neighbours were former police officers.
It was reported in the summer that Sergei and Yulia Skripal did not want to attend the hearings into the 2018 poisoning of Dawn Sturgis, a resident of Amesbury, England. However, her relatives believe that the Skripals should be included in the witness list.
