House from a garage in Moscow
In my previous post about rental apartment warehouses, I mentioned a man who had "come to Moscow in droves" and, tired of renting a place every month, decided to take drastic measures. In order to save more money by not spending money on rent and to save up for a house faster, he decided to live in his garage.
More precisely, not in the garage, but in a modular wardrobe installed by the garage society on the garage site.
When I came across this series of posts on the forum a long time ago, I got stuck and read it to the end. I remembered it today and literally immediately did a search and found it.

I don’t know what’s so attractive, but I sincerely admire this man’s resourcefulness, patience and persistence in achieving his goal – housing in Moscow.
Once again I opened his topic and took a long pause, scrolling through all the stages of the composition on 5 pages.
I will explain the process of building a garage house and living in it for 5 years.
In early spring 2006, I came to Moscow to work. Like other newcomers, he started with a rented house. By 2008, the price and condition of these houses, as well as the "services" of real estate agents, were already quite... I got bored.
I will not bore the reader with a description of all the options and factors that I considered and calculated, but the idea took its final form in the fall of 2008.
- Buy the cheapest garage in a place close to work and convenient for living.
— Design and construction of a house (the project depends on the specific conditions of the construction site)
- Costs should be minimal (since it is unwise to make large investments in pilot projects) and phased (since it is unwise to spend the entire budget at once).
— The planned budget of the project is about 300,000 rubles. Yes, that's right. This is the annual cost of renting a house in Moscow.
It is interesting that on the old Yaplakal forum the topic "Garages in Moscow" is still alive. Moreover, it forces people to register even after many years to write messages there and express respect to the author or, on the contrary, to get angry or tell their stories.
I highly recommend reading it (especially for men, especially those with hands). In essence, it is the story of a modern Robinson.
By the way, after five years of life, the author sold his residential garage and bought the desired apartment in Moscow. According to the author himself, it was an excellent investment with an annual yield of 70-100%, an object of creativity and invention, as well as an excellent trainer of patience and determination!
