Norway demands reduction of diplomatic staff at Russian embassy

"In connection with the Norwegian side's demand to reduce the diplomatic staff of the embassy, only two diplomats will remain at the consulate by October 17, 2024," RIA Novosti quotes the report as saying.

Despite the reduction, the Embassy intends to maintain consular reception for all types of services. This means that applications from citizens to visit the consulate will not be cancelled.

However, the Consular Section's ability to arrange on-site consular appointments, provide personalized in-home services, and expand visiting hours will be limited.

The embassy advises citizens to check the validity of their passports in advance and submit documents for exchange. Also note that some documents, such as a power of attorney, can be issued by a Norwegian notary and are recognized in Russia if they have an Apostille stamp. Translation and notarization of such documents can already be done in Russia.

In addition, the Russian Consulates General in Svalbard and Kirkenes have suspended consular access until further notice.

As the Vzglyad newspaper writes, in August 2023, the Russian government added Norway to the list of unfriendly foreign countries.
