A sudden autumn surprise from Russian Railways: passengers got angry and returned their tickets
The autumn 2024 season brings several important changes to the rules of rail travel that came into force last year. These innovations affect all passengers, designed to improve travel comfort and meet the growing demand for rail travel. • The main change concerns passengers using upper seats and lower berths. Now, it is only possible to stay on the lower berth during strictly defined hours: 7:00–10:00 (breakfast), 12:00–15:00 (lunch), 19:00–21:00 (dinner). At other times, passengers must remain in their seats. • Avoid listening to music at high volumes and using devices that produce loud noise. Musical rehearsals are strictly prohibited on trains. • To reserve a ticket for the autumn journey, we recommend booking it 90 days in advance. If your purchase is delayed, we may run out of stock. • Transportation of pets is permitted only with the necessary documentation and special containers. • Alcohol consumption is permitted only in restaurant cars and bars. • Many of the new Russian Railways rules are aimed at creating a more comfortable atmosphere on trains.
