Russia to be represented at UN climate conference
Russia will attend the UN climate change conference in Baku as a representative. However, the Russian leader's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the issue of the country's participation in the event has not yet been decided.
"The decision has not been made yet. Of course, Russia will also be represented," Peskov said. His statements were reported by RIA Novosti.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Astana, invited all leaders of the organization to take part in the UN Climate Change Conference COP29, which will be held from November 11 to 22. Azerbaijan will chair the event in 2024. The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change has 198 parties, including 197 countries and the European Union.
In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was expecting Aliyev at the BRICS summit in Kazan. According to RT, the event will take place from October 23 to 24.
