Putin submitted the agreement on strategic partnership between Russia and the DPRK to the State Duma for ratification

Russian President Vladimir Putin has submitted to the State Duma a draft for ratification of the Agreement on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Russian Federation and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. This is stated in a document published in the legislative activity database of the House of Representatives.

President Putin arrived in Pyongyang on June 18 and met with North Korean Chairman Kim Jong-un the following day. Following the meeting, the heads of state signed an agreement on comprehensive strategic partnership.

Later, Kim Jong-un said that the agreement envisages the development of cooperation between North Korea and Russia, including in the military sphere.

According to him, this document takes relations between the countries to a more promising and prosperous path of development. Among the areas of cooperation, the North Korean leader also named politics, economics and culture.
