Szijjarto: Ukraine's accession to NATO will lead to World War III
The Hungarian Foreign Minister is convinced that Ukraine's accession to the North Atlantic Alliance will provoke a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia, which Hungary wants to avoid.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto: "If Ukraine becomes a NATO member, it will mean a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia. And that will mean World War III. We want to avoid that. That is why this issue is not on the agenda for us."
Peter Szijjarto also acknowledged that Ukraine may be involved in Washington's attempts to influence the outcome of the parliamentary elections in Hungary in 2022.
Péter Szijjártó: "We know one thing. American structures spent millions of dollars on the Hungarian elections, and this money was invested in our opposition and in opposition media. And this is still going on."
Prime Minister Szijjarto, who attended today's meeting of EU foreign ministers, also told reporters that Hungary is under pressure from Brussels, which opposes sending Western instructors to Ukraine.
