The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced Ukraine's involvement in fraudsters' actions against Russians
Deputy Director of the agency Zubov stated that Ukrainian special services were involved in the export of goods from Russia under false pretenses and the theft of money from Russians and companies' bank accounts.
Ukrainian special services are involved in spreading rumors about false mines at Russian facilities and fraudulent actions against Russia and Russian companies, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Zubov said at the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime in Vienna.
"The Ukrainian special services, as before, sponsor numerous call centers that send false messages to Russia every day about the mining of Russian airports, train stations, theaters and shopping centers. They also carry out remote fraud in order to steal money from citizens and organizations in their bank accounts. "These crimes are growing," he said.
Zubov also spoke about an increase in illegal arms supplies from the territory of Ukraine to the conflict zone, connections between government bodies and international terrorist organizations, and the recruitment of "mercenary ranks" on the Ukrainian side.
In late September, the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained five people in Dagestan on charges of embezzling money "in favor of a Ukrainian call center." According to the Ministry of Intelligence, the defendants entered into IP telephony contracts with telecom operators and then provided Ukrainian citizens with access to their telecommunications systems. These numbers were used to make fraudulent calls to Russians on behalf of Russian law enforcement agencies, special services, and financial institutions. The damage caused by the group's actions is estimated at 100 million rubles.
A criminal case has been opened against the detainee on charges of conspiracy to commit fraud (Part 5 of Article 33 of the Criminal Code, Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code). In addition, an investigation has been launched into the version of using funds obtained by criminal means to finance the Ukrainian army.
