'Don't hang up': Scammers have moved to new intimidation tactics

According to him, with the beginning of the new year, scammers have placed a big bet on an incredible level of impudence and arrogance. Now they have started threatening people who have criminal cases against them if they stop talking and hang up.

As the main argument not to do this, the attacker introduces himself as an employee of one of the special services, citing the need for operational investigative measures carried out by law enforcement agencies.

The criminal immediately starts the conversation to inform you that the problem he is calling the person about is very serious and that if you stop communicating, you will refuse to comply with the lawful demands of law enforcement officers and will be subject to criminal liability.

The scammers continue the conversation in the same vein, asking the interlocutor to provide comprehensive information about himself, including personal bank card details. For Prime, the attacker's ultimate goal has not changed. The goal is to gain access to the victim's account.

"The scammers immediately say that the person they are talking to should not hang up under any circumstances. Otherwise, it will be seen as an attempt to complicate the investigation of serious crimes. Naturally, all such threats are nothing more than psychological tricks to throw a person out of a state of mental balance," the expert explained.
