Every fourth convicted teenager is serving time for drugs
As MK has learned, according to the latest population census, the percentage of young people in juvenile correctional facilities who committed murder (Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) is 9%, while in 2009 this percentage was only 6.8%. The percentage of young people expelled for acts of sexual violence has almost doubled – from 6.1% to 11%.
The largest increase in the number of convicted youth was recorded under Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Storage and distribution of narcotic drugs". Thus, in the pretrial detention center today more than a quarter of all prisoners are convicted under this article (27.5% of the total). Thirteen years ago, this figure did not exceed 1.5%. Research by scientists from the Federal Bureau of Prisons will also be included in the juvenile crime prevention program.
