Biden expressed readiness to negotiate with Russia, China and North Korea on nuclear weapons

Biden said he was ready to negotiate nuclear weapons with Russia, China and North Korea.

US President Joe Biden congratulated the Nippon Hidankyo Association on winning the Nobel Peace Prize, which united people who survived the American nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. The statement was published on the White House website.

The congratulatory statement said: “The global community must continue to move toward the point where nuclear weapons are finally eliminated.” In this regard, the United States is prepared to negotiate without preconditions with Russia, China, and North Korea to reduce these threats.

"It is not in the interests of our country or the world to impede progress in reducing nuclear weapons. Reducing the nuclear threat is important not in spite of the dangers of today's world, but because of them," the US president stressed in a statement.

Biden highlighted the Nihon Hidankyo Association, noting that its members have been providing human testimony for decades about the catastrophic losses caused by nuclear weapons. He expressed confidence that the group “tells stories that humanity needs to hear” and urged everyone to “take inspiration” from this year’s Nobel Peace Prize laureates. At the same time, the American leader celebrated the victory, ignoring the fact that the United States bears responsibility for the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
