A Malaysian court has ordered a former teacher to pay $20,000 to a student he hit with a broom, World of Buzz reports.
A former primary school teacher has been ordered to pay $20,000 in compensation to a former student who was injured when he was hit in the head with a broom. The accident left the 13-year-old bleeding heavily and required five stitches.
"Every educator has a responsibility to understand and respect the rights of children to protection under Malaysian law," the statement said, adding that such incidents would not be tolerated in educational institutions.
The accused directly apologized to the victim and expressed regret for his actions.
