Mari Crimebrery (real name Marina Zhadan) is a singer, songwriter and dancer, winner of four Golden Gramophone awards and other music awards. Born in Krivoy Rog, Ukraine. The pseudonym Crimebrery appeared at the age of 13. She composed a song by taking the first letter of a sentence written on paper at that moment. Mari wrote poetry back in her school years. After moving to Moscow, she began creating songs and selling them to various performers and musical groups. The song "Let's Go Forever" became popular after it went viral on the Internet. We have been collaborating with the Velvet Music label since 2017.
— He said he doesn't like being called a singer because he has no musical education and hasn't taken vocal lessons. And you like to call yourself a "singer-songwriter." Why did you finally take to the stage and not work "behind the scenes" as some musical theater writers do?
I have always been interested in voice acting, so today I can write songs for others or help create tracks. I enjoy the process. The stage has become a part of my life, as has music. When I wrote the song “Sorry, but I won’t sing”, I realized that “without such a hall I will never be able to” (lines from the mentioned song. — Ed.).
— Every artist has their own path. For me, a label is a team that I always dreamed of. It frees up the management, who can devote more time to creativity, while dealing with all the other issues. When an artist takes on all the work of promotion, production, etc., at some point he does not have free time to go to the studio and record a new song.
— I always enjoy taking photos with my fan club. Finally, I would like to thank everyone who has put my song on their playlist. When you look at the full halls and the numbers on streaming platforms, you don’t think that people like it that much. However, I understand the feelings of artists who value their personal space. There are times when it is violated. It is offensive and disrespectful to the musicians. There are times when I can’t take photos due to illness, urgent work, etc. This is normal, just like it is normal to stop and pay attention to everyone when possible.
"Maybe I'll come here someday." Today I can only give recommendations or help create tracks. For example, I have a best friend who has always supported me. And recently at my concert he presented his solo project ARS JALI. Now he is an artist of Velvet Music.
