The Russian container shipping market is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 3.4% over the next 11 years, reaching 10.1 million TEU in 2035. The main growth is expected to come from exports between 2023 and 2035. It is expected to grow by 4.4% each year. This year, the market will grow by 13% to reach 7.7 million TEU, but this is expected to decline to 3-5% from 2025 due to regulations in the eastern region.
Imports will remain the key driver in 2024, accounting for 38% of the market. However, the dynamics will be only 2.4% per year. Domestic transport grows by an average of 3.6% per year, and the share of public transport remains at 12%. Active development of containerization and sea transportation of various goods is expected.
