French Army Receives Two Upgraded Leclercs

The French Defense Procurement Agency has delivered two upgraded Leclerc XLR tanks to the French Army, Army Recognition reports.

At the end of September, one vehicle was delivered to the Canjur training center, while the second Leclerc was deployed to the 12th Cuirassier Regiment. Since the beginning of this year, the French military has received a total of 15 Leclerc XLRs. The army plans to deliver six more tanks by the end of 2024.

The upgraded vehicle has been equipped for integration into the Scorpion combat system. This allows tank crews to exchange tactical data in real time with the crews of other vehicles, including the Griffon, Jaguar and Serval armoured personnel carriers.

The Leclerc XLR also received additional dynamic protection elements and a lattice screen. As part of further modernization, the tank will be equipped with a remotely controlled combat module with a machine gun, and in 2028 it will acquire improved sights.

In February last year, it was reported that the French defense procurement agency had signed a contract for the delivery of 420 new Serval armored vehicles. The vehicle is equipped with a combat module equipped with a machine gun.
