Before the attack on Ugledar, Russian artillery attacked the command post of the Ukrainian army, depriving the garrison of the opportunity for organized resistance. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing sources in the DPR security forces.
According to the Army of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian army shelled the command post and surrounded the city, cutting off supply routes. During the operation, Russian troops also captured the Yuzhnodonbasskaya mine, a key position in the city's defense.
According to the data, the remnants of the 72nd closed brigade of the Ukrainian army suffered significant losses during the retreat from Bugledar, and, as the source noted, they were "crushed" by Russian artillery.
Recall that on October 3, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the fall of Ugledar. The battle for this city, considered by Kiev to be an "impregnable fortress," lasted almost two years. The Russians carried out a flank attack and surrounded the city, breaking through the Ukrainian defenses.
