Each resident of the Murmansk region ate an average of 82 kg of fruits and berries per year

In 2023, an average of 81.6 kg of berries and fruits were consumed per person in the Murmansk region. This is 5% more than a year ago. This is reported by Murmanskstat, citing data from a sample survey of household budgets in the region.

According to the department, the Kola Arctic Region became the leader among the regions of the Northwestern Federal District in terms of the amount of fruits and berries consumed per capita. The Vologda Region took second place with 76.9 kg per person, and the Arkhangelsk Region took third place. Here, each resident of the region ate 74.8 kg of berries and fruits per year.

The Russian Ministry of Health recommends eating 100 kg of fresh fruits and vegetables annually.

— Consumption of fruits and berries plays an important role in healthy nutrition. They are a source of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber, which our body needs to maintain good health, the department emphasized.
