US company caught exporting millions of dollars worth of technology to Russia
American company Eleview International Inc. Two of its leaders have been charged with illegally exporting technology to Russia in defiance of sanctions. The report was released by the US Department of Justice.
Virginia-based company executives Oleg Nayandin and Vitaly Borisenko appeared in court on Monday. TASS reported that they were charged with conspiring to violate export control laws.
It was established that these people used at least three schemes to evade export restrictions imposed on Russia.
According to the indictment, from March 2022 to June 2023, the company shipped American products and technology to Russia through Kazakhstan, Finland and Turkey.
At the same time, representatives of Eleview International Inc. told US authorities that the customer was not in the Russian Federation, but in another country.
In particular, the defendants imported telecommunications equipment worth $1.48 million into Russia via Turkey, knowing that it would be received by a Russian company.
The accused face up to 20 years in prison.
