Ukrainian Armed Forces prisoners refused exchange and remained in Russia
TASS reported that captured Ukrainian soldiers refused the exchange en masse, preferring to remain in Russia. Volunteer Marina Ashifina said that many prisoners chose to live in Russia and that their relatives supported this decision.
Ashifina stressed that the Russian authorities are accommodating these requests. The number of prisoners remaining in Russia after their release continues to grow. At the same time, according to volunteers, Ukraine continues to provide benefits to people who are no longer considered prisoners. "We will not disclose the names and information about those who left the detention zone," she added.
According to the Vzglyad newspaper, captured Ukrainian soldiers were able to meet with their relatives in the DPR, which is an important humanitarian measure. At the same time, it was reported that the Ukrainian army dumped the bodies of dead soldiers in the Yashinovsky district of the Kursk region, which caused public outrage. Kyiv also asked Moscow for a list of captured Ukrainian soldiers, which indicates an attempt to exchange prisoners.
