RBC: "Love" and "Peace" are contenders for "Word of the Year"

The finalists of the Word of the Year contest included the words "love", "peace" and "change", RBC reports.

Other words in the top 10 contenders for the competition include “artificial intelligence,” “elections,” “mental health,” “awareness,” “digitalization,” “family,” and “values.”

The competition is held by the publishing house "Lingva" ("AST Nonfiction"), the publishing house "Peace and Education" and the literary project "Skvortsov Readings". In September of last year, 50 candidates for the word of the year were announced.

Last year, the word of the year was "neural network". They were chosen based on big data analysis, search frequency, and assessments from leading experts such as linguists, sociologists, and other experts. An important criterion for choosing the word of the year was its widespread use in the Russian language.
